"Just read the hobbit for the first time. I've tried reading LOTR many times but could never get into it. I love how simple and fun it was."

"I got really into fantasy novels (Redwall first, soon followed by The Hobbit/LoTR). Found some friends who were dorks like me, started playing DnD, etc. These things are all about high adventure, doing epic things in far away mountain ranges, camping under unfamiliar stars on some great quest."

"I can't imagine growing up reading shit like The Hobbit or LoTR and not wanting to go on adventures in the mountains, the vibes seem almost inseparable to me."

"Was into reading, science and nature from an early age, and as a sort of escapism from the fact that I had little in common with my peers, I got really into fantasy novels (Redwall first, soon followed by The Hobbit/LoTR)"
