Solomon Butcher

🎲

Late 19th century photographer who documented early plains settlers in Nebraska, considered a great forgotten American artist who died poor.

Mentions (1)
"Butcher is one of the great forgotten American artists IMO. He would photograph families in front of their sod homes with the majority of their belongings, often modifying the plates with text and drawings. He destroyed most of the negatives he ever made and died a poor man shortly after."
