"Camanga was born in 1910 in the Philippines and moved to Hawaii sometime before WW2. He worked as a photographer in Honolulu before starting to tattoo in 1944. There were a lot of young GI's in Honolulu at this time who were getting ready to enter the Pacific Theater and were getting tattooed."
